Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 1 tbsp butter (for cooking)
- Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh berries (for topping)
Instructions
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
- Dip each slice of sourdough bread into the mixture, making sure both sides are coated but not overly soaked.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
- Place the soaked sourdough slices on the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Remove from heat and serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh berries.
Notes
- Use day-old sourdough for the best texture; fresh bread may become too soggy.
- Adjust sweetness by adding a teaspoon of sugar or honey to the egg mixture.
- Try adding a sprinkle of nutmeg or a splash of orange zest for extra flavor.
